Granlund’s investment in the future of building information modelling will have a strong presence at the CIB World Building Congress 2016. The topic will be discussed during eeEmbedded workshops, part of an EU project, and a presentation by Francisco Forns-Samso. The international conference will bring participants from more than 50 countries to Tampere from 30 May to 3 June 2016.
Granlund is involved in eeEmbedded, an EU project to develop a design and simulation environment that uses open building information modelling and supports collaboration. eeEmbedded is organising two seminars at the WBC2016 conference during which a tool developed by Granlund will be presented.
Granlund has developed a multi-criteria decision-making tool – a visual, multi-disciplinary environment to support decision-making – and this will be presented during the seminars.
The purpose of the seminars is to present the current status of the Intelligent Virtual Engineering Lab, which was developed to facilitate the design of energy-efficient solutions.
The project encompasses 11 companies and three research institutes from nine different European countries. The project’s budget is almost EUR 11 million.
Francisco Forns-Samso: using building information modelling for maintenance
Francisco Forns-Samso from Granlund will give a presentation entitled ”Visualization of facilities management KPIs during early design using BIM” to discuss how building information modelling and the visual decision-making system can be utilised in building maintenance. The presentation has been prepared in collaboration with Marie-Christine Geißler (BAM Royal Group).

The eeEmbedded seminar will be held on two days: 1 June 2016 from 11am to 12:30pm and 2 June 2016 from 11am to 12:30pm. The venues are Opus 1 & 2 at Tampere Hall. Francisco Forns-Samso will give his presentation on Thursday 2 June 2016 at 2:45pm. The presentation is part of the ”Industry: Advancing products and services session 2” entity, which begins at 1:30pm in the Duetto 1 room.
