Winner of Hack the Office to be revealed at Slush

The four finalists developed solutions for smart office buildings.

Caverion and Granlund teamed up with Finland’s leading start-up operator, HUB13, to arrange the Nordic region’s first Hack the Office event for the property sector from 11 to 13 November 2016. The event involved developing entirely new applications and solutions for smart office buildings.

Four finalists from the Hackathon were selected to attend Slush 2016.

• Go-far-a-day encourages property users to save energy via reminders sent by text message. This simple solution, which makes good use of technology, would be easy to deploy on a wide scale.
• Queuely developed an application for remote queuing. Nobody likes standing in line, so why not develop an application to do it for you?
• InstaFix enables property maintenance activities to be carried out rapidly. By using the application to send a picture of an item such as a broken chair, minor property maintenance actions can be carried out quickly.
• 3odel developed entirely new forms of information for BIM models by adding details such as thermal images to 3D models.

”It was great to see how the 50 application developers at the Hackathon were enthusiastic about the property and construction sector. They set out with no preconceptions, which gave them entirely new perspectives on developing smart buildings,” says Ken Dooley, Granlund Consulting Oy’s Sustainability Group Manager. He thinks that Granlund may be interested in working with all of the finalists.

One winner from among the Hack the Office finalists will be selected at Slush on Thursday 1 December 2016.
