Teakon becomes part of Granlund

Granlund strengthens its AV and theater technology expertise

The University of the Arts design unit, Teakon, will become part of Granlund Oy. The agreement on the transaction was signed on 17 November 2014. Teakon offers consultancy and design services related to performance spaces and audiovisual technology. The unit was established in 1987.

Teakon’s current projects include the technical design of the new Lappeenranta City Theater as well as the artistic and technical design of the Lux Helsinki light festival.
As part of the deal, four Teakon experts will transfer to Granlund and they will strengthen the audiovisual and presentation technology expertise within the Granlund Plus services.

“It will be fantastic to have Teakon’s theater and AV expertise at Granlund. We believe that the importance of AV and presentation technology will increase in many building sectors and we want to offer our customers the highest level of expertise, even for the most demanding projects,” says Matti Urjo, Director of Granlund’s electrical department.

“Granlund is a leading specialist group in its field and offers Teakon an opportunity to develop and broaden its expertise further. It could be said that Granlund will give us a good home,” says Teakon’s Senior Consultant Ilkka Paloniemi.

Teakon’s functions will transfer to Granlund as of 1 December 2014. The new unit will be located at Granlund’s main office in Malmi, Helsinki.
