New OP headquarters is the Total BIM winner

Granlund responsible for project’s electrical, sprinkler and security design

The OP headquarters, which is being built in Vallila, Helsinki, has won the Tekla Global BIM Awards competition which included the best projects from local competitions held in different parts of the world. The project first won the annual Tekla BIM Awards 2014 competition in Finland and now it was selected as the Total BIM winner.

The OP headquarters is a complex building with a sloped precast concrete and glass facade. Granlund has been responsible for the project’s electrical, sprinkler and security design. In terms of building information modeling, Granlund was one of the companies in a collaborative effort that modeled the building in different locations. The designers and those at the construction site followed the design and building process with the help of the model. The other companies in the group were Sweco Rakennetekniikka (Finnmap Consulting Oy), Sweco Talotekniikka Oy, JKMM Arkkitehdit Oy, Haahtela-rakennuttaminen Oy and Byggnadsekonomi Oy. The building will be completed during 2015.
