Is your property a nightly power hog?

Optimise your nightly consumption to gain significant savings

Properties can consume a large amount of power at night, despite there being no use at all. We took steps to measure our customers’ power consumption and compared the day and night-time figures. If our customers took night-time power usage into account, it would be possible to reach power savings of up to €200,000 per year. For example, a 20,000 m2 property would have a savings potential of €26,000-56,000.

Our measurements showed that night-time consumption accounts for, on average, a 25-30% share of the total power consumption. ”There is an especially large potential for savings at properties that aren’t used at night-time, like offices, schools and shopping malls”, says Granlund building automation’s junior expert, Ilkka Kasari.

Power savings can be reached by targeting actions on building automation and lighting. ”We’ll start with a probe that lets us find out the property’s so called hidden drains”, says Kasari. If a customer is using Granlund Manager, we’ll be able to gather power consumption figures on an hourly basis.
