Granlund Oy’s hospital designers have their own department as of 1 January 2017. The aim of the new department led by Santeri Kondakov is to offer customers more comprehensive building services, including HVAC, electrical and fixed medical equipment design, and to adapt the solutions to all design disciplines.
”A department focusing on hospital design became necessary to offer our customers better services for the whole healthcare construction sector. In order to succeed, demanding hospital sites require seamless cooperation and adequate transfer of information during planning. Furthermore, the different systems must be taken into account as a whole,” says Santeri Kondakov.
Kondakov is the director of the Hospital Design Department, and he will also continue to lead the Espoo unit. With the new organisation, Aila Puusaari was appointed coordinator of HVAC and fixed medical equipment design, and Benjam Lytz was appointed coordinator of electrical design.
The Hospital Design Department employs a total of 45 people. Within the Group, about 120 experts handle all planning and consulting related to building services for the healthcare sector. Key hospital design projects currently include the Siltasairaala hospital and the New Children’s Hospital of the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa, the TAYS 2020 reform programme, the new hospital of the Central Hospital of Central Finland in Jyväskylä and the Children’s and Women’s Hospital of Oulu University Hospital.
