Granlund Oy organized, together with BRE Global which is responsible for BREEAM environmental assessments, an Accredited Professional (AP) course in March 2014. The qualification was obtained by five Granlund employees who have a great deal of expertise and experience in environmental and energy efficiency.
The BREEAM AP qualification enables us to offer a wider selection of services in connection with environmental certification projects. Granlund offers BREEAM AP specialist services as an independent service or as part of building service design or the BREEAM Assessor service. As part of a certification project, an AP will guide and support the design team and ensure that sustainable construction is taken into consideration effectively while optimizing the costs. An International Assessor, on the other hand, is responsible for reviewing the evidence and confirming the project’s BREEAM rating.
As part of projects certified according to the BREEAM International New Construction 2013 scheme, it is possible to achieve extra points if the project is controlled by a sustainable construction specialist with a BREEAM AP qualification. As part of the certification process, an AP supports the design team at the construction site and helps them find the best possible solutions to achieve the desired environmental certification level. Studies carried out by BRE show that including an AP in a construction project aiming for a BREEAM certification improves the results significantly.
New Construction 2013 for new international construction projects
BREEAM International New Construction 2013 is an environmental assessment scheme for new international construction projects. BREEAM is the world’s foremost environmental assessment system for buildings and it was launched in the UK during the 1990s. It includes assessment systems for both new and existing buildings and provides certifications for buildings all over the world. Since 1990, over 100,000 buildings have been certified and over half a million projects have been registered for certification. The aim of the BREEAM environmental assessment system is to ensure that buildings have the smallest possible environmental footprint but a high level of comfort.
