Delivering success from afar: remote implementation and training helps organisation thrive

Global travel restrictions and physical distancing regulations imposed in the wake of COVID-19 have resulted in many traditional business models halting or scaling back operations. However, already digitalised models have not only survived but thrived as the world looks to technology to improve or diversify the way we work.

As a cloud-based solution, Granlund Manager doesn’t require on-site hardware or installed software. All implementations and trainings can be executed remotely. All Granlund Manager global teams are well-equipped to address the world’s new digital normal. The technology and processes needed to achieve project success are already in place and very well tested.

“Our approach to digitalised maintenance is engrained within Granlund Manager’s value proposition. The cloud-based technology we utilise gives our clients full visibility and control of their operations, from anywhere – all they need is an internet connection and a smartphone. Despite not being able to attend face-to-face meetings, we have still been able to guide, train and support all our clients during the implementation. This has empowered them to take ownership of their maintenance operations and property management,” said Veikko Martiskainen, Head of International Operations.

One of our most recent Granlund Manager software success stories saw the fully remote implementation and training for one of Saudi Arabia’s largest subsidiary companies. Travel restrictions imposed before project started resulted in virtual meetings and remote tools being the norm throughout the project.

“Before we started working with Granlund Manager, approximately 75 – 80 per cent of our maintenance processes were carried out on paper and lacked the efficiency that a digital system offers, especially as we are managing a large maintenance portfolio. We needed a scalable, user-friendly cloud solution that could simplify our process and be adopted easily by all our technicians. This is exactly what Granlund Manager provided for us,” said Hacene Terghini, BDM – FM Technical Advisor at Sraco.

Once the project commenced, all valuable asset and maintenance data was collected and uploaded to the Granlund Manager cloud by Granlund’s project team. After the initial training, the project team was able to monitor and analyse the implementation in real-time, enabling informed on-demand support.

Throughout the remote implementation and beyond, the client had online access to the system and data in real-time, was fully supported in its migration to digital technology while having complete visibility and control of the maintenance and data relating to it.

“Once it became apparent that implementation and training would be done remotely due to COVID-19 restrictions, we of course had apprehensions. However, these doubts were shortlived and project timelines were met and expectations of deliverables were exceeded. The Granlund team was quick to respond adapt to the fully-remote implementation and training and was well-prepared for a smooth transition. Change management when retraining is usually a challenge, but the team was supportive and responsive throughout the whole process and were fully-invested in ensuring the project was a total success,” said Terghini.

“While we don’t believe face-to-face meetings are a thing of the past, the wider adoption of technology for digital maintenance will inevitably see more property owners and managers embrace the digitalised approach to maintenance to improve cost and operational efficiencies. We have provably challenged the notion that implementation and training must be done on-site in order to be successful. The acceleration of this project has shown that, provided you have the right framework and a cloud-based solution such as Granlund Manager, digitalisation is possible from anywhere in the world,” said Martiskainen.
